Formatting your script to Limelight Scripts House Style
|
| Wherever possible, use styles (templates for fonts) specifying the font type, the font
size, tab spacing, indentation etc. This will save you from having to specify the format of every headline,
stage direction and line of text. |

|
- All body text should be in font type (arial) size (11 point)
- Use no more than three levels of Headlines - one for the title line, one for major headings (such as act numbers),
one for minor headings (such as scene numbers)
- Use bold text at the start of the line to indicate the name of the character who is speaking.
Characters names should be in font type (arial) size (12 point)
- Use normal text for the speech.
- Use italics to stress a word or syllable.
- Stage directions should be in font type (arial) size (11 point) and in bold text.
- Stage directions which apply to a single character during a speech by that character can be embedded in the
speech and enclosed in brackets like (this)
- Stage directions which apply to more than one character should be on a separate line from the speech and should not be enclosed in brackets.

What else is required besides formatting the text?

| Any or all of the following.
|
- A list of characters
- Descriptions of the characters.
- A list of props (preferably scene by scene, indicating how the prop arrives on stage - on stage from the start
of the scene or carried on by a (specified) character
- A description of the sets. This could include a diagram if a specific stage layout is essential to the plot.
- Suggested incidental music.
- Suggested songs list.
- Any special effects should be indicated like this FX: and listed throughout the script.
- Lighting plot (especially if any specific lighting is essential to the plot)
- Sound effects plot
- Any original music.
