Queen |
Chuckles my faithful jester, how would you like to be the new royal huntsman? |
Chuckles |
I don’t think so, I don’t like animals, they bring me out in a rash. |
Queen |
You mean you’ve never taken a gun in the forest and hunted bear? |
Chuckles |
No, but I’ve gone fishing in my underpants. |
Queen |
It doesn’t matter, the jobs yours. First thing tomorrow, go into the forest and catch a deer for dinner. |
Chuckles |
But I might get lost! It’s dark in there. |
Queen |
Take Snow White with you, she can keep you company. You could take a picnic. I’ll get Dolly to arrange it. |
Chuckles |
And it will get her away from that Prince Rupert. I could have her allto myself – you’ve got yourself a new huntsman Mrs Queen. |
Queen |
Good, from now on you do everything I tell you without question, Do you understand? |

Chuckles |
Perfectly. |

Ah, there you are Dolly. |
Dolly |
What do you want, how did you find me? |
Chambers |
I’ve been treading in your footsteps all day. |
Dolly |
You’ve been treading in something judging by that smell. Don’t tell me old face-ache wants me back at the palace. |
Chambers |
No, nothing like that you know, in this light you look almost human. |
Dolly |
And you want to get all romantic with me, putting your muscular arms around me and smothering me with kisses? |
Chambers |
Certainly not! |
Dolly |
Pity, Its a good job really because I like my men to have a military background with a good war record. |
Chambers |
I’ve got one. |
Dolly |
What? You’ve got a war record? |
Chambers |
Yes. ‘We’ll meet again’ by Vera Lynne. |
Dolly |
(to audience) Isn’t he a treasure? Mind you, he looks like he’s been dug up. (to Chambers) What is it you want? |
Chambers |
Just your company. And perhaps a little nibble |
Dolly |
That’s the best offer I’ve bad this week, you mean all you want is the food in my basket? |
Chambers |
I’m the only one without any food. The rest have brought their own. |
Dolly |
Rest? |
Chorus enter carrying picnic baskets. |
Dolly |
What are they doing here? |
Chambers |
It’s such a lovely day, I didn’t think you’d mind. Come on everyone, it’s time to enjoy ourselves. |

Prince Rupert enters (SR) |
Prince |
Lord Chamberlain, thank goodness I’ve found you, I need to speak to Snow White urgently, where is she? |
Chambers |
She’s not with us your Highness. |
Prince |
She must be, Queen Magnolia said she was in the forest having a Picnic. |
Chambers |
Well we haven’t seen her. |
Prince |
What am I going to do? I have to return home this morning and I promised to see her before I went. |
Chambers |
Don’t worry your Highness, If she is in the forest l’m sure we can find her, she cant be that far away. |
All start to gather their things. |
Enter Queen (SL) |
Queen |
There’s no need to search for Snow White, I know exactly where she is, back to the palace all of you, Prince Rupert and I have to speak in private. |
Prince |
We do? |
Queen |
There’s something you need to know. |
Chorus & Chambers exit (SL) |
Queen |
I wish there was an easy way to tell you this. |
Prince |
Tell me what? |
Queen |
She asked me to tell you that she never wanted to see you again. |
Prince |
But you said she was in the forest having a picnic. |
Queen |
She was, with her new boyfriend, Chuckles, my court jester. |
Prince |
Then she never really loved me? |
Queen |
No, you were just a plaything for her, I suggest you return home straight away, forget her and find a bride in your own Country. Duty calls, I must return to the palace, have a safe journey home. (exits SL) |
SONG – Prince. After song ends…Prince exits (SR) |
Chuckles |
(off) Princess, Princess, wait! |
Enter Snow White hurriedly, closely followed by Chuckles. |
Chuckles |
Hiya Kids! (to Snow White) What did you go running off like that for? |
Snow |
It was Prince Rupert, I heard his voice. I bet he wants to say goodbye. |
Chuckles |
He’ll be halfway home by now to tell his Father that he’s getting married, I don’t know what you see in him, he’s not as good looking as me. |
Snow |
I know Chuckles but I love him. He’s witty and charming and he speaks a foreign language. |
Chuckles |
What’s so special about that? Remember that time I took you to a posh restaurant and ordered the whole meal in French? |
Snow |
Yes, I remember, shame it was a Chinese restaurant. |
Chuckles |
That reminds me, I still haven’t caught a deer for lunch and your stepmother will go potty if I go back with nothing. |
Snow |
But we haven’t seen one all day I feel sleepy all of a sudden, do you think we could rest for a while? |
Chuckles |
Of course we can, you lie down there and I’ll gather some berries for lunchtime. |
Snow |
You’re so kind to me Chuckles. |
